Viann Yu started her piano lesson at the age of 7; she has completed eight levels of the ABRSM exam before she moved to Jacksonville Florida in 2010 from Hong Kong. In Florida, she has received first place in all her events for Florida State Federation of Music Clubs and Greater Jacksonville Competition. She has also won the special Chopin award at the MTNA Senior Piano Competition in Fort Myers (2015), and Arts for life award in Miami (2016).
In Douglas Anderson, Viann has been a part of the pit orchestra to play three different musicals such as Beauty & the Beast, Ragtime, and Violet. She also won the concerto competition and performed at Terry Concert Hall (2014), after that she has always been a part of Wind Symphony and Orchestra. Viann has been chosen to perform in Extravaganza (The biggest show of the year chosen as the best of each art department). (2015-2016)
Viann has performed in Hong Kong, Florida, and Greece; in the summer of 2018, she will be going to Italy for a piano camp. As of now, she is studying in Mannes School of Music. “We may not be able to communicate in the same language, but we can use the power of music to create our own language.”
