Joshua Goodman

Piano Instructor in Forest Hills and Flushing

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Mr. Joshua began his piano studies at the age of 6. His passion for music grew and he furthered his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and completed his advanced studies and musical exams. He received his Bachelor’s in Music at the McGill University in Piano Performance with an emphasis in classical piano studies. Joshua also obtained his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies as well as an Advanced Certificate in Music Production from Queens College in New York City. 

Joshua has a rich performance history including performances at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and Kiwanis Music Festivals performing Bach and Chopin. Mr. Joshua participated in his university choirs, Large Jazz Ensemble and Small Jazz Ensemble. Joshua continued his professional performances at the Banaff Jazz Workshops, and Jazz ensembles at Cal State  Hayward and Cal State Northridge. Joshua won the Best Latin Piano Solo in Reno, Nevada festival , performed at AfroCubanismo festivals, and studied with Mr. Chucho Valdes in Cuba. Joshua won a Ontario Arts Council Grant recording and producing an album with Grammy-winning drummer, Leroy Williams.

With over twenty years of teaching experience, Mr. Joshua is perceptive, adaptive, and personalized in his teaching methods. Joshua has experience teaching students of all ages from 4 years old to adults and is enthusiastic and energetic in his teaching style. Joshua encourages multi-disciplinary studies while working on specific projects and believes that each student brings to the piano their own skills and sources of creativity aspires to tap into that and see what we can be accomplished.
