Andrea Palma

Vocal Instructor in Forest Hills and Flushing

Andrea Palma is a New York City native, born and raised in Queens. She pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York in Potsdam, with a concentration in Vocal Performance.

         Ms. Palma is a versatile singer, able to navigate and understand the nuances required for both pop singing and operatic performance During her time at Potsdam, she sang with several ensembles including a competition-winning a cappella group. She also embraces her heritage, using her culture and its language to elevate her musical performances. As such, she performed with a Latin band and collaborated with a school in Mexico, performing at the La Universidad de Hidalgo music festival. 

         Ms. Palma recently graduated from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, the music

conservatory within Roosevelt University, obtaining a Masters in Voice. She has performed in several operas including world premieres. This summer, she debuted her role as Third Lady in Mozart’s, The Magic Flute, with the Chicago Summer Opera. 

         During her summers in College she performed with the Collegiate Chorale, now known as the Master Voices, a professional chorus founded by Robert Shaw in New York City. She also traveled with the Collegiate Chorale to Verbier, Switzerland four times to perform in the Verbier Music Festival. Ms. Palma has toured with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Thomas Hampson in Israel and Austria for the Salzburg Music Festival. Ms. Palma has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with world renowned singers such as René Pape, Bryn Terfel, Thomas Quastoff, Barbara Frittoli, and Anna Netrebko.

            After graduating from the Crane School of Music she taught elementary general music and chorus to grades K-3 at a public school in the Bronx while teaching privately to middle school students. This past school year she was a Teaching Artist with Chicago Opera Theater where she helped students write and stage their own original operas. This school year, Ms. Palma begins her first year as a Teaching Artist with the Metropolitan Opera Guild, bringing opera to New York City students through the art of choral singing. She has a strong passion for arts education and strives to teach the benefits and importance of music education in our everyday lives.
